Bidding Prayers
The Ascension of the Lord
Introduction(by the Presider): On this Ascension Sunday, trusting in Christ who remains with us always, we bring our prayers before God our Father.
- For the Church: that Christ’s promise to remain with his people may strengthen and guide the Church in her mission throughout the world. Lord, hear us.
- For the Diocese of Cork and Ross:that as we approach the two-week mission in preparation for the 100th anniversary of the Eucharistic Procession we may be renewed in faith, hope and love. Lord, hear us.
- For the baptised: that we may follow Christ as missionary disciples and share his love with others. Lord, hear us.
- For those preparing for exams:that the Holy Spirit may guide them, calm their anxieties, and strengthen them in all their efforts. Lord, hear us.
- For those who are lonely: that they may know the presence of Christ and find friendship, kindness, and support in our community. Lord, hear us.
- For peace in our hearts, our homes, and our world:that God’s love may overcome hatred and fear, and bring lasting peace. Lord, hear us.
The Presider prays for the dead: For those who have died (especially N & N): that they may be welcomed into the eternal joy of God’s kingdom. Lord, hear us.
Conclusion (by the Presider): Heavenly Father, you listen to your people in every age. Hear the prayers we offer with faith and trust through Christ our Lord.
